The Four Way Stop, Road Rage and Goldfish

The Four Way Stop, Road Rage and Goldfish

Why are people confused at a 4 way stop? You yield to any vehicle that reaches the intersection before you do. How are people learning to drive? YouTube? If there is a pedestrian crossing, forget it. The stop becomes a game of four car roulette.  Some drivers seem to think, the first car to move is the first car to go while others sit clueless. Insert road rage here.  UGGGHHHH. The law is automobiles leave the stop sign in the same order in which they arrived at the stop.  Ho

    Oops. Did I do that?

I hate being wrong and if I’m wrong, I want you to know the reason, like I didn’t do anything maliciously and I’m not stupid. Mistakes happen.  I flew from San Francisco to Daytona Beach and paid an additional $89 for premium seating extra legroom, bulkhead.  The last time I flew this airline, I was in first class on a 16 hour flight to Egypt. Upon boarding there was a pillow, a blanket and water bottle. Hmmm, I thought, they are making this premium seating a lot like first c

Saying the Same Thing? Words versus Intent.

A few weeks ago, I had this discussion with a friend. I said “…and stop saying we’re both saying the same thing.” The response was, “I’m just trying to show common ground.” I shot back, “No when you say that, it’s you trying to prove your point putting my statement into your frame of reference. It feels like you are ignoring what I’m saying.” The response back to me was, “ahhhh, I had no idea.” Then something occurred at breakfast that illustrated my point. My glass of juice

    Vampires? Hiding in Plain Sight

Lurking in the shadows of the sustainable energy efficient lightening of corporate offices are vampires. I am not kidding. This is not a Halloween fluff piece. This is the alarming truth about an epidemic in the workplace. The savvy office worker knows it is essential to show value, be it sales, numbers, creativity, etc. Then, there are others, hmmm. How to say it politely, are void of talent applicable to their employment situation. The only way they can live and thrive in t

    Blame? Own Your Mistake

OK, who are you most likely to believe. The person who is arguing a fact and yet you know they were wrong two weeks ago, but would not admit it. OR The person who is arguing a fact and in the last year, that person has admitted twice, they were wrong. I’m thinking, you’re going with the second choice.  Integrity and trust are based on knowing the person you are dealing with can admit a wrong. Which leads me to ask, why won’t more people do it? You know, why won’t more people

    Stuck? Kick Forward

I have a look of absolute of outrage on my face – I can tell because I feel that vein popping out between my eyebrows and I yell out, “That is the dumbest thing I have heard all year,” during a meeting. Fortunately, I work from home and my phone was on mute. There are advantages to working from home that have kept me from serious breaches of business etiquette. This particular department wanted us to spend more time with the customer and process more customers per quarter. Ad
