The Age Issue: Potato Chips, Yoga and 60

This is like eating that entire bag of chips. You know you did it, you were there for every moment and yet it still comes as a shock when you reach in and the bag is empty. Yup, that is how I feel about turning 60 today. And, when people ask, what are you doing for your 60th, my response is I’m going grey. I have seen things, done stuff and been places. Easier said than done. I have been doing yoga for 25 years; longer than some of my yoga teachers have been alive. In a class

    Happy Birthday Bous

I published my first blog post on July 14, 2014. I’ve done 210 weekly posts. It reminds me, every now and then we need to celebrate and have fun.  My celebration 🙂 A big thanks to Matt Simoneaux (Baby Elvis) for taking these photographs last year in Deland Florida. #delandwings #blogging #blogs #blog #yoga #yogapractice #Deland

Goals, Discipline and Motivation: A Feat to the Head?

You are not stuck. Sure, people like to think they are, but they aren’t. You are not in the same place now that you were three years ago. Seriously, unless you have been in a coma for 36 months, you faced  obstacles, changes, emotional turmoil along with moments of sheer joy and laughter. Honest reflection helps you see where you’re destructive; how you put yourself into situations that were not to your best interest. Thoughtful recollection makes you happy at what you conque

    Transitions, Kitchen Yoga and Holidays

If you’d told me in 2001, when I moved into my house, people would recognize my kitchen and me from photographs, I’d not be able to imagine in what sort of world this would  be possible. Yet, this year, I had 4 instances of people recognizing me from Instagram. Me and my kitchen yoga. I’m selling that house and moving. I may be excited about the new place, but, I’m in awe when I think of what possibilities await that I can’t even imagine. I smile with a joyful heart that I ha

    Bend? Avoid the Breaking Point

“It’s your fault.” “No, you don’t understand. I continue to go above and beyond what is expected to help this client time after time. I have bent over backwards trying to help this team. This last request is just ridiculous, but they keep hounding me.” “Yes, I understand and it is your fault. You have taught them how to act and now you are trying to change the rules of engagement.” “Huh?” We train people how to behave. When people become relentless in a situation, consider th

    Vampires? Hiding in Plain Sight

Lurking in the shadows of the sustainable energy efficient lightening of corporate offices are vampires. I am not kidding. This is not a Halloween fluff piece. This is the alarming truth about an epidemic in the workplace. The savvy office worker knows it is essential to show value, be it sales, numbers, creativity, etc. Then, there are others, hmmm. How to say it politely, are void of talent applicable to their employment situation. The only way they can live and thrive in t

    Opportunity? Time to Shine

In the movies, there is the soundtrack to cue the moment the hero rises and accomplishes something magical, from the perfect solo, the game saving basket, the solving of an equation, the realization they are about to lose the love of their life and it all changes. There is no music in real life to cue this moments. You have to recognize the opportunity and take it, there may be no one to encourage it, you may just have to feel it. There is no check list, no set up, nothing ou

    Valentine’s Day

Is the word love over used? Is there a place you love, a food you love, a song you love, a movie you love, a person you love? Can it all be love? If it makes you smile and it gives you joy, then its probably love. Happy Valentine’s Day! #love #yoga

    Communications? What’s the Ask?

Ain’t nobody got time for that! The average attention span has dropped from 12 minutes to 5 minutes in the last decade. There are more mobile devices than people on the planet. Communication has become a competition. We have a lot of things vying for our shortened attention span. You need to make a point quickly. In basketball, once you are on the shot clock, you have a limited number of seconds to make a play. Wether you know it or not, it’s the same with business communicat
